Corey Andrew Valdez Cordell

Corey Andrew Valdez Cordell, 20, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 29, 2021. He was born on October 17, 2000, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Dustin Valdez Cordell and Ashley Taylor. Corey is survived by his mother, Ashley Taylor (Hashim Stephens); father, Dustin (Mallory) Cordell; he was an amazing big brother to Caiden Neu, Haley Neu, Sarayah Cordell, Connor Cordell, Cameron Valle, Ava Valle, Kaiah Cordell and Karis Cordell; nephew to Linda McKinney, Billie (Travis) Sarven, Raymond (April) Taylor, Amanda Taylor, Matthew (Ashley) Taylor, Dwight Cordell, Jr., Tina Cordell, Ryan (Brittney) West and John Michael West; loving boyfriend for many years to Julisa Wallace; special friend and brother to Christian and Tremon in addition to many other friends whom he considered brothers; and an awesome big cousin to many. Corey was greeted in heaven by his special grandmother known as “NeNe”, Susan Taylor and grandparents, William McKinney known as Poppel, Dwight Cordell, Sr. and Ida Baker. Corey graduated from Springfield High where he loved nothing more than playing FOOTBALL. He loved everyone and was always the life of the party. His contagious smile and continuous jokester personality always had a way to light up any room. He was proud to be a big brother and big cousin and he took that role very seriously. He enjoyed fishing and dancing, especially dancing with his mom and his family always came first. Everyone who knew Corey, knew that the one thing he took seriously in life was “his money”. His oversized personality and vibrant life will be deeply missed by the many people who loved him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 11a.m.-1p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with service beginning at 1p.m. Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
