Dorothy May Ware

July 16, 1923 — December 22, 2022

Dorothy May Ware, age 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2022, after a brief illness.

Dorothy was born in Newfane, Vermont, the second child of Albert and Mary Snow. Her older brother was Kenneth and younger brother, Henry. When Dorothy was five, the family moved to Brattleboro, Vermont, where Dorothy continued to live for most of her adult life with husband, Richard. The couple had two sons, Paul and John.

Throughout her adult life, Dorothy was active in church, as she and her husband lived out their faith through hospitality, prayer, evangelism, and dedicated support of missions.

When Dorothy retired from her clerk position at the Holstein Corporation in 1985, she and Richard moved to Cedarville, Ohio to be near their elder son, Paul and his wife, Marilyn. There they enjoyed being part of a small Christian community, in a rural farming area. They were active members of Grace Baptist Church of Cedarville.

After the passing of her husband, Richard, in 2008, Dorothy continued to live in her home in Cedarville, until 2016 when she moved to Georgia to live with her younger son, John and his wife, Carolyn. During this time she joined Westside Baptist Church in Martinez, Georgia, where she was a faithful member of the Goldtimers Sunday School Class.

From 2018-2020 Dorothy lived in a small Assisted Living/Personal Care Home in Harlem, Georgia, yet remained active in church attendance. From 2020-2022 she lived at Keysville Nursing Home where she was known as a sweet and kind person, who cared about people and knew the names of other residents and staff members. Dorothy continued her daily Bible study, support of missions, and faithful prayers for family, friends, and missionaries right up through her 99th year of life. One of Dorothy’s favorite Scriptures was Psalm 91, which she had committed entirely to memory.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Paul and his wife, Marilyn; son, John and his wife, Carolyn; five grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; brothers, Kenneth and Henry; and grandson, Charles.

Dorothy’s Memorial Service will be held in the main Sanctuary of Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville, Ohio at 2 PM, Saturday, January 7, 2023. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
