Geradine Louise Leakey

December 19, 1953 — December 15, 2022

Geradine L. Leakey, “Gerry” as everyone lovingly called her, passed away on December 15, 2022, surrounded by her devoted daughters, grandchildren and family. She was born on December 19, 1953, in Destin, Florida, the daughter of Odis Dewey Honeycutt and Ann Patricia (Long).

Growing up, Gerry and her family moved around frequently as her father was in the military and would be stationed in many areas inside and outside the country. Once he was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Gerry found her forever home in Ohio. She started her 32-year career at Navistar as a line- worker and proved herself to be a dedicated and faithful employee until her retirement. While working on a line can be repetitive and tiring, Gerry found herself wanting something she could call her own and so she started a couple small businesses on the side and was passionate about their success. She poured her heart and soul into everything she did and showed everyone that you should never underestimate a little lady with a big personality and unmatched determination.

Following her entrepreneur days, she found an even deeper love for gardening and working with flowers when the weather allowed and when it didn’t, you would find her inside working on numerous arts and crafts. If you knew her and were blessed to spend time with her, you’d know of her beautiful Native American Indian collection and her passion for anything Gnomes that were found all over her house. She’d invite you in, offer you a cup of tea, engage in relishing conversation or just sit together and watch British television shows in good company. While Gerry was a strong woman who everyone knew was set in her ways, she loved deeply, cared strongly and fought to the very end. The memories created with her will always be held in the hearts she loved and lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her father, Odis D. Honeycutt.

She is survived by her mother, Ann P. Shepard; daughters, Tonia (Carl) Tyree and Cameo Farr; grandchildren, Jade Tyree, Elliott Farr and Anndreya Farr; sister, Karen Thomas; brothers, Odis (Karen) Honeycutt, Gwayne (Amanda) Honeycutt and Mitchell (Vicki) Shepard; and numerous others extended family members.

A celebration of Gerry’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Condolences may be expressed to her family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
