Michael David Olmstead

April 12, 1944 — February 1, 2021

OLMSTEAD, Michael David, age 76, passed away on February 1, 2021. He was born on April 12, 1944 to the late William Olmstead and Alice Larimore (Richenberg) in Columbus, Ohio.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Randy Larimore. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Olmstead (Robinson), 4 daughters; Becky (Brent) McCloskey, Denece (Patrick) Olmstead, Cris (Tim) Olmstead, and Penny Sam, brothers; Bob (Rita) Larimore and Ric (Peggy) Larimore, sister, Suzi Downey, grandchildren; Tabbetha (Martin) McCloskey, Hilary (Derrick) McCloskey, Tommy Robinson, Dennis Lee Floss, and Megan (Mark) Stump, great-grandchild, Rainbow Stump, and many lifelong friends.

Mike was a devoted soulmate for 57 years, the best dad and grandpa his girls could ever ask for, and a man any son-in-law could look up to. He had a passion for cars. He built Olmstead’s Garage from the ground up and was the owner and operator for over 45 years. He treasured the time he spent with his brothers as a drag racer for many years, moving up through the classes and was a partner in a nitro funny car. Recently, he helped crew a Bonneville race car. Mike also loved all animals, the bigger the better, especially chow-chow’s and Clydesdales. He was a Steelers fanatic, and an Ohio State Buckeyes and NHRA fan.
