From birth her parents even called her Nan as Agnes was just a traditional family name. After graduating high school, she worked in a couple of office jobs & moved on to working in the offices of a woolen mill entering data on the old IBM data punch cards. During that time is when she met Alan who was in the navy stationed in Holy Loch. She had gone to visit a childhood friend Agnes, who was working at a pub in Dunoon that Alan went to, and her friend thought that they would make a good match and so they have been for 55 years. Married in 1973 in Greenock they went to wherever Alan was stationed until he retired from the navy in 1990. During that time, they had 2 beautiful children both born in Scotland. After the navy they moved to South Charleston Ohio. Nan worked as a coder/transcriber in a medical billing office and later in the offices of several doctors in Springfield. Travel was always on the agenda after their time in the Navy. Camping, travels to Scotland every 2 years to visit family with side trips to various visits throughout Europe and especially to Norway on 3 occasions where they had honeymooned.
