Allen Kent Lee

Aug 11, 1955 — Jun 29, 2026

Springfield, Ohio

Allen Kent Lee entered the gates of heaven with love and gratitude on June 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Marcina Lee Brooks, and his brother, Ollie Lee, Jr.

Allen was born to Benjamin and Ruby Lee on August 11, 1955, in Painesville, Ohio. As a young boy, his family moved to Chicago, Illinois circa 1962, where he would later experience a defining moment in his life. On March 27, 1973, Allen surrendered his life to Christ at Church of God on Drexel Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Austin High School in 1974.

In 1982, Allen moved his family to Springfield, Ohio, where he planted roots and raised his family. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 22 years. During his time with the post office, many in the community came to recognize him by his white safari hat, warm smile, and willingness to strike up a conversation with anyone willing to engage. Allen, affectionately known by many as Brother Lee or Brother Allen, enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, camping, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, and spending time with family, church family, and friends. He was gifted with the ability to fix anything broken. He found great joy in sharing his testimony and expressing gratitude for all God had done in his life.

A true history enthusiast, Allen had a special interest in stories of the past, particularly Native American history, which led him to visit several reservations across the country. He also had a unique curiosity about the stories of notorious criminals and once visited a museum featuring Bonnie and Clyde’s bullet-ridden car.

Allen had a way of bringing laughter into any situation, even during his cancer journey. He loved to eat — and those who knew him knew just how much he loved good food. He will be remembered for his sweet potato pies, singing while strumming his acoustic guitar, and telling stories with the same enthusiasm every time, no matter how many times he had told them before. To know Allen was to love him.

Allen leaves to cherish his memory his father, Benjamin Lee; his daughters, Monica (Mark) Miller, Jessica (Gregory) Adams, Tiffany (Philip) Stinnett, and Dara (Demetrius) Weaver; his brothers, Benneth Lee and David Lee; his sisters, Sharon Lacy, Phyllis Kelly, and Jadelia Lee; sixteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and dear friends, including Larry Tankson, Brother Eddie Hodges, Mike Johnson, and Shawn Edwards.
