Alma was deeply devoted to her faith and was a proud member of Beatty Freewill Baptist Church, where she found community and solace. Her strong belief system guided her, shaping her into the compassionate person that all who knew her cherished.
Alma’s greatest pride came from her family, to whom she dedicated her life. She leaves behind her beloved children: Pamela Couch, Marsha (Ronald) Downs, Terry Wallen, and Keith (Kelly) Wallen. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Conan, Todd (Elizabeth), Jenifer (Richard), Amber, Megan, Terry Jr., and Macy (Joey), each of whom carries a piece of her spirit. Alma will be remembered by her numerous great-grandchildren-including Sierra Lara and Alexis McClure who were great help with Alma, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as her beloved sister, Sharon Roberts.
Alma was born to the late Arthur Lambert and Hazel (George) Taylor, and was also preceded in death by five siblings, all of whom she held dear in her heart. She was the loving wife of Howard Wallen for 47 years, sharing a bond that exemplified commitment and devotion. She faced the loss of her son, Paul Douglas Wallen, with the strength that characterized her life.
In her free time, Alma enjoyed crocheting and quilting, hobbies that reflected her nurturing nature and artistic spirit. Through her crafts, she not only created warm blankets and beautiful designs but also brought comfort and joy to those she loved.
Her family will hold visitation at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield on July 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, immediately followed by her funeral service, which will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
