Betty Ruth Edwards, a loving mother and devoted homemaker, passed away on June 17, 2025, in Springfield, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on August 24, 1934, in Circleville, Ohio, she was a beacon of kindness and generosity, whose strong faith guided her every decision and action.
Throughout her life, Betty dedicated herself to her family. As a fantastic homemaker, she raised her children with love and care, often cooking homemade meals that brought the family together around the dinner table. Her accomplishments as a mother were matched only by the pride she took in her children and grandchildren. Betty’s family was the joy of her life, a source of endless love and happiness.
She enjoyed sewing handmade clothing for herself, camping with her family, and celebrating holidays with her large extended family. Every stitch she crafted and every meal she prepared conveyed her deep affection for those around her.
A member of the First Freewill Baptist Church, Betty was not just a part of her congregation but a pillar of strength in the community. Her personality was a beautiful blend of warmth and strength; she could easily put people in their place when necessary but always did so with a kind heart. She lived her life serving others and imparting wisdom to those fortunate enough to know her.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Edwards, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. She also mourned the loss of her son, Lonnie Acton, grandson, Lonnie Acton Jr., granddaughter, Jennifer Acton, her son-in-law, Patrick West, and several cherished family members, including Tonyia Rowlett and her cousins Junior Wright and Dorothy Chamberlain as well as all of her siblings. Her parents, James and Margaret (Boydston) Wright, also welcomed her into eternal rest.
She leaves behind her sons, Richard (Yvonne) Acton and Mark (Janie) Acton; daughters, Linda West and Lisa (Lloyd) Alexander; and her cherished grandchildren, Terri (Missy) Acton, Ricky Acton, Coleen (Kyle) Cox, Emma Alexander, and Alex Alexander. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alex, Jase, and Lydia. Betty is further remembered by her loving family members, Vickie Shelton and Lavonna "Punkin" Meyers, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends from her church.
Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and profound love for her family. A visitation will be held on June 21, 2025, at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield, Ohio, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 2:00 PM. Betty Ruth Edwards will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into this world and the love she so freely gave.
