Carmel Trent

Carmel (Jackson) Trent was born March 17, 1942, in Beaver, OH, with grace in her heart and faith as her compass. She entered into the arms of the Lord in Springfield, OH, on November 17, 2025, at the age of 83. Carmel lived a life of unwavering love, radiant kindness, and deep devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

She never met a stranger. Her home was a place of welcome, comfort, and gospel music. A devoted member of the House of Prayer in Springfield, OH, Carmel’s faith was the foundation of her life and a light to all who knew her.

In 1958, she married the love of her life, Charles Trent Sr. To that union, they had six children: Connie Trent, Charles Trent Jr., Elaine Trent, Roger Trent, Rhonda Stoll, and Floyd Trent.

Carmel’s life was not untouched by sorrow, yet she carried her losses with grace and quiet strength.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Ragland; her loving husband, Charles Trent Sr.; her daughter, Elaine Trent; her sons, Roger Trent and Charles Trent Jr.; her brothers, Richard Ragland and Earl Ragland; and her sister, Carnette Ragland.

She leaves to cherish her memory nine grandchildren: Angel (Tim) Trent-Yates, Anthony Donte Trent, Shana Trent, Elizabeth Dyer, Rhonda Sprinkle, Shane (Ami) Sprinkle, Brent Trent, Tre Trent, and Dre Trent; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also fondly remembered by her bonus son, Todd Trent, and her special nephew/grandson, Colonel (Brittany) Ragland.

To know Carmel was to be loved. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every prayer she whispered, and every soul she lifted. Her sunset marks a homegoing—a return to the eternal embrace of the One she praised so faithfully. And though she will be deeply missed, her light will never dim.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 11:00-12:00PM at the Jackson Lytle Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, also at the funeral home. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 PM at the Liberty Valley AME, Beaver, OH.
