Fairborn

Charlene G. Hovan, age 80, of Fairborn, passed away unexpectedly at home. She was born October 19, 1945 in Lenoir City, Tennessee, the daughter of Frank and Hazel (née Craig) Smith.

Charlene was a member Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. She retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, choosing early retirement so she could help care for her newly born triplet grandsons—a role she cherished deeply. Charlene was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose kindness and quiet strength touched all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Michael; her son, Michael Hovan; her daughter, Patty (Bill) Hoelscher; and her grandchildren Noah Hovan, Justin (Brittany) Hovan, Ashley (J.B.) Carter, Maggie (Levi) Eagle, Cameron (Allie) Hoelscher, Bailey Hoelscher, and Lucas Hoelscher; great-grandchildren Landen, Scarlett, Samuel, Oliver, Delilah, Allie, Amelia, Adelynn, Ainsley and Audrey.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert and Bud Smith; and her sisters Polly Mosier, Ann Robinson, and Una Engle.

Private services and interment will be held for the family.
