Charles E. Reed, Jr., known fondly as Chuck, passed away on January 15, 2026, in his hometown of Springfield, Ohio. He was born on September 18, 1957. Chuck leaves behind a lasting mark on the lives of those who knew him, characterized by his soft heart and unwavering kindness.
Chuck enjoyed a fulfilling career at Electric Eel Manufacturing, where he meticulously built motors from beginning to end. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Chuck was a beloved member of his community. His warm and approachable nature won the hearts of many as he generously offered help and support to anyone in need. A cherished volunteer at the Eagles after his retirement, he engaged with others, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.
In his leisure time, Chuck was deeply involved in various organizations, including the Eagles, Amvets, VFW, and American Legion. He savored life to the fullest, relishing moments spent camping and cruising with his beloved wife, Diane (Day) Reed, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Chuck was also known for his playful spirit when it came to gambling—win or lose, he always found joy in the experience.
His beloved wife Diane, along with his siblings Dennis Reed, Rosena Miller, and Susan (Kenneth) Lair, will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness. Chuck also is survived by his brothers-in-law, Gary Day and David (Patty) Day, as well as his grandchildren, Jeremy and Christina Reed. He had a special relationship with his longtime friend Fred Coberly, who he affectionately referred to as his brother, and valued his friendship with Paul Grashall.
Chuck joins his dear parents, Charles Reed, Sr. and Gladys E. (Quinn) Reed, and his son, Michael Reed, in eternal rest. Additionally, he will be remembered alongside his late brother-in-law, Robert Miller.
Chuck's visitation will be held on January 18, 2026, from 4:00pm -6:00pm, followed by a funeral service at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center beginning at 6pm.
