Donald Charles Ervin, a beloved family man and dedicated volunteer firefighter, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on April 5, 1957, in Springfield, Ohio to the late Earl and Jeanne (Vince) Ervin. Donnie lived a life of service and purpose. Throughout his career as a volunteer firefighter at Madison Township Fire and EMS, he selflessly put himself in harm's way to protect and save others. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of his community made him a true hero in the eyes of all who knew him. Aside from his noble profession, Donald had another passion: truck driving. He spent many years on the open road, traversing different landscapes and experiencing the freedom that comes with it.
While Donnie was dedicated to his work, he held an even greater devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Andrea (Fields) Ervin, and daughters: Vickie (Joe) Penwell, Trisha (Craig) Isaac, and Megan Ervin. Attending his daughters' events was one of his greatest joys; he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on and provide unwavering support. His paternal love knew no bounds. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Samantha and Wyatt Isaac, brother, David (Toni) Ervin, sister, Nancy (Steve) Waddle, and special friends, Tony Gillaugh and Chris Clark. These relationships were deeply cherished by Donnie throughout his life. The family would also like to extend a very heartfelt and special thank you to all of the staff at the Kobacker House for their dedicating care and support for Donnie.
Donnie was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steeler fan and also loved playing cards, especially poker. As we bid farewell to Donnie, we remember him as a selfless and caring individual. His legacy of devotion, courage, and love will forever be engraved in our hearts.
