Adkins, Douglas Aaron 49 of Springfield passed away on Wednesday January 21st, 2026, after a lengthy battle with end stage liver disease. Doug gave the good fight to until his last breath with family at his bedside. He was born in Tampa Florida on January 24, 1976, to Van James and Rose (Johnson) Adkins. He is survived by his ex-wife with whom he fondly called “my wife” until his final breath Missey Adkins. Doug’s children: Marcus and Lucas Adkins of Springfield, Ohio. Doug is survived by his sister Cristina (Brian)Thomas, brother David Adkins, sister Barbie Castle, brother Van James (Shelly)Adkins, sister Diana Adkins, stepbrother Ronald Rife and brother Buddy Adkins. He survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Doug was proceeded in death by his parents, Van James (Nancy) Adkins, Rose (Ronald) Rife, sister Shelly Adkins, stepbrother Jeffrey Rife and nephews Bradley and Blake Adkins, and good friend Barb Hudnell. Doug enjoyed music and was the life of any party. He brought the fun out toeveryone and found treasures where you least expected to find them. Doug was loved by many and will be deeply missed. A special thank you to Interventional Radiology team at Springfield Regional Medical Center that went out of their way to take care of their “Dougie” with his weekly visits, and a special thank you to the Mercy Health- Springfield Wound Care Center for having the patience of a saint caring for Doug at difficult times especially when he struggled with on-time for appointments.
