LAPP, Earl R. "Rudy" age 86 of Springfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. He was born on September 29, 1933 to the late Robert H. and Maria "P-Nut" (Lopez) Lapp in Springfield, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Rudy is preceded in death by his Uncle Ricardo “CuCu” Rivera. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 65 years, Sandra "Sandy" Cooke Lapp; children: Rick (Teresa) Lapp, Randy (Kim) Lapp, Sheri (Brian) Nixon, and Staci (Mark) Fulk; grandchildren: Lynzy Lapp, Heather Irwin, Jethro Lapp, Justin Lapp, Sarah Miller, Josh Sarven, Zach Sarven, Brandi White, Parker Fulk and Maddi Fulk; 12 great-grandchildren and special family friend, Julia Littell. Rudy retired from Vulcan Tool in 1995 and he and his wife moved to Crystal Lake Village in Wauchula, Florida. He sincerely enjoyed nearly twenty years there in the sunshine and his time on the beach. Rudy always had a smile on his face. He drove the activities bus in Florida and cherished his time with friends; especially his four hour daily ping pong matches with Mike Young. Rudy excelled at every sport he tried. He was the champion at the Senior Olympics in doubles Racquetball at the age of 70. He also played a mean game of Horseshoes and enjoyed softball as well. His daily giggle visits with his new great-granddaughter, Nora were always a highlight. Rudy was a true family man and will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center. A visitation will also be on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Rudy will be laid to rest at Ferncliff Cemetery.
