Glenda Faye Durst

April 1, 1957 — April 1, 2026

Springfield

Glenda Faye Durst, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio, surrounded by her family. Born on April 1, 1957, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Glenda's life was a testament to love, resilience, and selflessness, qualities that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Glenda lived a life devoted to others, always putting their needs before her own. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with her daughters, Renae (James) Hall Mercer and Kellie (Luke) Crego, and their families. She adored her grandchildren—Seth Hall, Kimber Crego, Tanner Mercer, Bailey (Kody) Allen, and Peyton (Holden) Fosnaugh—and nothing brought her more happiness than the warmth of her beloved dogs, Henry, Annie, and Chico. Her sister, Vicki (John) McDaniel, and her nephew, Justin(Traci) McDaniel—who was like a son to her—also held a special place in her heart. Many nieces and nephews, including Michelle (Brent) Patterson, Molli (Adam) Schleucher, Katelynn (Cody) Hooks, and Mindy (Shawn) Brandenburg and several more, along with aunt Sylvia Evans, uncles, Cecil Cosby and Willis Cosby and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dallas (Vera) Durst, Sandy Stalder, Linda (Bob) Fuller, Kenny (Tammy) Durst, and David Durst, all gratefully remember her kindness and unwavering love.

Glenda’s spirit was marked by strength and courage. She bravely fought and triumphed over breast cancer not once, but twice, a testament to her remarkable tenacity and fighting spirit. Her hobbies and interests reflected her creative and vibrant nature; she loved reading, sewing in her earlier years, and had a passion for collecting quilts, Longaberger baskets, and ball jars. She found joy in playing bingo and shopping, especially trips with her girls, where she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Durst, who passed away on May 19, 2021, her son-in-law, Larry Hall, Jr., her father, Robert Massengill, and her mother and stepfather, Inez and Richard Hoover.
