Griffin Eric Zemina

July 11, 2006 — February 13, 2026

Dayton

Griffin E. Zemina, affectionately known as Eric, was born on July 11, 2006, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He left this world far too soon on February 13, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, at the tender age of 19. A bright light in the lives of all who knew him, Eric's intelligence, warmth, and kindness shone through in every aspect of his life.

Eric’s education was marked by distinction; he graduated with honors Magna Cum Laude from Grand Blanc High School in Michigan. He was not only a dedicated student but also an active member of the Central Church of the Nazarene in Flint, Michigan, where he found joy and community within the youth group. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he cherished the supportive and nurturing relationships he formed there.

Eric had a passion for drawing and dreamed of becoming a civil engineer, meticulously planning to attend college this fall. His love for creativity was also expressed through ceramics, where he created beautiful treasures that he lovingly gifted to his family. An easygoing young man with an infectious smile, Eric's politeness and cheerful disposition were often remarked upon by friends and family.

He found joy in travel, treasuring every adventure taken with his family. From a thrilling cruise to Alaska with his mother and grandparents, to memorable trips to Maine, San Francisco, and Florida, each experience was a celebration of togetherness. The thought of cultivating a big garden and tending to chickens with his mother filled him with excitement and hope for the future.

Eric was a devoted son to his mother, Ashley Zemina, and loved his sister, Mavis Wilson. He was cherished by his grandparents, Mike and Marge Zemina, and lovingly referred to Kim Pales as his second mom, having spent three formative years living with her. He also shared strong, brotherly connections with his cousins, Cody, Alex, and Ryan Pales, and held dear the presence of Amy Yoakum, who was like an aunt to him. He was surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, each of whom he loved deeply.

Eric leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Friends and family are invited to celebrate the impact that Eric made in our lives during a visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a memorial service beginning at 12PM on February 23, 2026, at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.

While Eric’s time with us was brief, the love he shared will endure in our hearts forever. We will miss him dearly but find comfort knowing that he is now in the loving embrace of his great-grandparents.
