Homer William Fannon, 72, of Urbana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29th, 2025. Homer spent his final days celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, surrounded by family, love, and laughter.
Homer was born September 2nd, 1953, in Springfield, the son of the late Harry & Ruby (Myers) Fannon.
Homer worked in construction for many years. He was also the owner and operator of Computer Corner, where he would build, sell, and repair computers. In his later years, he worked in automotive repair, and held many management positions at Walmart.
Homer was a brilliant mind, a jack of all trades, and a pillar of strength to his family. He had a love for technology, trivia, fast cars, and Rock & Roll. He enjoyed fishing and going to the casino with his daughter. He also enjoyed watching tv and making cheesy snacks with his grandkids. Homer loved teaching others new things and was always around to help out with a carpentry project or math homework. He was a beloved patriarch and was constantly surrounded by family and friends. His wit could lighten even the heaviest moments, and he is remembered as a kind, gentle soul with a fervent love for his family.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Patsy Lynn Fannon. November 22nd, 2025 would have been their 50th wedding anniversary, he spoke of this and his love for her often in his final days. He was also preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Marie Dutton. His sisters, Theresa Fannon & Nora DeVore, his brother, Howard Fannon, and brother-in-law Craig McClintock.
He is survived by his daughter - Sarah & Nicole Dyer. Two granddaughters - Brittany & Justin Burke, Courtney & Carrie Johnson. Three great-grandchildren - Allison, Logan, & Lennon Burke. Two sisters - Leisa Fannon & Hazel Miller, and many loved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Homer requested that no services be held, however, as The Rolling Stones so wisely put it, “You can’t always get what you want”. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, TBD. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.
