Jack R. Bame, age 77, passed away on October 7, 2022 in New Carlisle, Ohio. He was born on July 6, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Leroy and Hattie Mae Bame. Along with his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his loving wife, Chong S. Bame, brother, Alvin O. Bame, and sisters, Agnes (Bame) Claxton and Anna (Bame) Trainer. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Chae and Todd Manning, grandson, Joe Manning, brother, Edward Bame, and sister-in-law, Kathy Bame.
Jack selflessly served our country in the United States Army for over 7 years, earning the rank of Sergeant. He served in Vietnam where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Overseas Bars, and Expert M-16 Badge. Following his time in the service, he spent 25 years at Tecumseh Local Schools. Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and Tecumseh Arrows. Jack was very passionate about his lawn and the garden him and Mae created. Most importantly, Jack was fully devoted to his Mae.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel, 8200 W. National Road, New Carlisle, 45344. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Jamie Leighty. Jack will be laid to rest next to his loving Mae following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the ALS Association in Jack’s honor.
