James R. George, born on April 25, 1934, in Kentucky, passed away on June 4, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio in his home. He lived a life marked by kindness, friendliness, and a gentle heart. Throughout his career, James was known as a jack of all trades and dedicated 30 years of service working on a punch press before retiring from Champion Company.
James had many passions that enriched his life. He loved antiquing, gardening, and exploring flea markets. Most of all, he cherished his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, a loving dad, a caring papaw, and a proud great grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Clora (Thompson) George; his children Sonny George, Gayle Pigg, and Rick George; grandchildren Daniel (Shannon) George, Jessica Pigg, Holly (Justin) Fraley, and Ryan (Clarissa) George; and great-grandchildren Nadia, Noah, Hannah, Rori, Felicity, Faith, and Jonathan. James also leaves behind his brother, Bruce George, his sister, Brenda Coffee, and sisters-in-law, Bertha McKinster and Lexi Pelfrey.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Icle and Martha (Johnson) George, and his sister, Louise Hackney.
Family and friends are invited to honor James’ life with a visitation at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center on June 10, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. James will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Burial Park.
