James 'Jim' D. Sell

James “Jim” Dale Sell, age 93 of Springfield, Ohio passed away October 28, 2026 at the Springfield Masonic Home. He was born May 8, 1933 in Winchester, Wisconsin, the son of the late George Sell and Vivian Cole. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Judy Sell, children; Richard Sell, Barbara (Eric) Berenstein, Carolyn (Rob) Kinford, and Vicki (Sean) Flanders, grandchildren; Mark Sell, Sarah Sell, Joshua (Erin) Smith, Matthew Smith, Zachary Kinford, Nathan Kinford, Emma Ryan, Elizabeth Ryan, and Noah Ryan, and great-grandchildren: Lily and Theo Smith. Jim was preceded in death by son, Robert Sell, mother and step-father, Vivian Cole and Edward Nass Sr., and father, George Sell.

Jim graduated from the University of Wisconsin, earning his bachelor's degree before beginning a distinguished career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a computer programmer. For over 30 years, Outside of work, he found joy in fishing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, listening to polka music, and watching The Andy Griffith Show. Above all, Jim treasured time spent with his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and looked forward to family gatherings. Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In the loving words of Jim, “Don’t go away mad.”

A committal service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Chapel. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County DAV #13 in Jim’s honor.
