James Douglas “Doug” Robbins

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Doug on August 24, 2026 at the age of 65 due to a motorcycle accident. He was born on March 12, 1961 to Norman and Genieve Robbins, one of nine children. Doug lived in Clifton, Ohio growing up. He graduated in 1979 from Cedarville High School where he met his now wife, Julie. They were high school sweethearts and have been together since they were 13 and 15 years old. Doug and Julie got married on December 4, 1982 in Clifton, Ohio. This year would be 44 years of marriage. With 6 years of dating, they spent 50 wonderful years in their union and were blessed with 3 children; Ryan, Brandon, and Cassie.

One of Doug’s first jobs was being a miller at the Clifton Mill where he stone ground grain and made flour. After that, he got a job at Cedarville Hardware where he was trained to be an appliance repair technician and did service for the hardware for many years. Later he bought the repair service from Cedarville Hardware, making it his own business and starting Robbins Appliance Repair. He and his wife operated for many years out of their home until his retirement at the age of 62. After retirement, Doug took on his favorite job in life, being a full time babysitter to his grandson Wesley whom he adored and received so much joy from.

Left to cherish Doug’s memory are his beloved wife, Julie (Carroll) Robbins, children: Brandon (Marissa) Robbins and Cassie Robbins, grandchildren: Wesley James and Henry Blake Robbins, mother, Genieve (Fannin) Robbins, siblings: Peggy (Robert) Hoffman, Becky Uhl, Chet (Brieta) Robbins, Pauletta (Russ) Sydlowski, Bill Robbins, and Marsha Robbins, sisters-in-law, Tracie (Rob) Morrow and Mindy Robbins, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doug was preceded in death by his son, James Ryan Robbins, father, Norman O. Robbins, brothers, Richard and Tommy Robbins, and brother-in-law, Ed Uhl.

Even after death, Doug's kindness continued through the gift of organ donation. His selfless decision gave hope and a second chance at life to others, leaving a lasting legacy of love.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 11:00-1:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Mark Gainer. Doug will be laid to rest next to his son, Ryan, at Clifton Cemetery immediately following the service.
