Janie Lou DeHart, born on June 25, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio. She dedicated over 40 years of her professional life as a pre-mold inspector at Encon, demonstrating commitment and expertise in her field.
Janie was known for her love of garage sale and QVC shopping, her exceptional cooking skills, and her enjoyment of flower gardening and vacationing. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Michael (Angie) Crabtree, Keith Craig, Kimberly (Kelly) Ruf; step-sons Donald Craig, Todd Craig, Eddie DeHart Jr., and Ben DeHart; step-son-in-law Wade Kiger; brother Kenneth Pitts; sister Dolly Daniels; grandchildren Matthew Crabtree, Allen Craig, Chelsey (Cody) McClain, Jacob (Kayla) Ruf, Sheldon (Alyssa) Johnson, Amanda (Aaron) Coon, Tony Adkins, Breanna Craig, Alexis Powell, Craig Ruf, Elizabeth Craig; numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Susie Pitts, husband Edward DeHart Sr., step-daughter Andrea Kiger, grandchild Michael Arnold, step-son Terry Craig, sisters Peggy Holsinger and Mary Pitts, brothers Gary Pitts, Bud Pitts, and brother-in-law Slim Daniels.
A memorial gathering to honor Janie Lou DeHart will be held on May 8, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle And Lewis Life Celebration Center located at 2425 N Limestone St, Springfield, Ohio 45503.
