In Loving Memory

John Edward Bruce age 78, left his earthly body and entered into the presence of Christ on April 29, 2026.

Born December 22, 1947, in Ironton, Ohio to Clifford and Lucy (Call) Bruce. After graduating from Rock Hill High school (Ironton, Ohio) in 1966, he moved to Springfield, Ohio where he worked at Cascade until hiring on at International Harvester (Navistar). It was here that he met Donn Moody, who shared Christ with him, and in his twenties, beside his pick-up truck on a country road, John came to know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

John met and fell in love with Fonda (Rogers) when he was a senior in high school and they married in October of 1966 and three children followed: Tamera ("Tami"), John, and Don.

After almost 59 years of marriage, his sweetheart, Fonda, went Home to Jesus on October 15, 2025. As his children gave him the news of her passing, the first words he said were, "the Scripture tells me I am not to grieve as if I have no hope."

John enjoyed time with his sweetheart, riding their Honda Goldwing motorcycle, as he and Fonda rode from coast to coast one year and lots of places in between. He loved the scripture and loved to study, discuss and debate it as well.

John joins his late wife, Fonda, in Christ's presence. He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law: Tamera (Jay) Smith, 2 sons and daughters-in-law: John (Vanessa) Bruce and Don (Angela) Bruce; 6 grandchildren, Andrea (Chris), Don (Linzy), Emerson, Caleb, Carlos, and Isla; and 2 great-grandchildren Caleb and Autumn.

John will be remembered as a man who loved the Lord, husband, father and grandfather. His absence is deeply felt, but even now in death, his life continues to point us to his one great Hope: everlasting life with his Savior surrounded by God's people forever.

A gift to Thru the Bible ministry, www.ttb.org will honor his heart for the mission and message of this ministry that helped him grow in his knowledge of scripture and his walk with God. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.jacksonlytle.com.

And the ransomed of the LORD will return

and come to Zion with singing,

crowned with unending joy.

Joy and gladness will overtake them,

and sorrow and sighing will flee. Isaiah 35:10
