John P. Nave

John Pearl Nave, age 75 of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. John was born February 19, 1951 in Springfield, Ohio. He was the son of William Pearl Nave and Delilah Taylor. John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Rhonda Nave, sons; Timothy Scott (Melissa) Smith, Matthew John Pearl (Christine) Nave, Joshua (Jennifer) Harris, and Jason (Lindsey) Harris, Grandchildren; Lindsey, Benjamin and Gabrielle Smith, Dylan Jacob Pearl Nave, Tucker Layne Walker Nave, Hope Lovell, Aubrey and Anna Harris, Ella Ray, Kenzie and Grace Harris, great-granddaughter; Willow Grace South, sisters; Catherine (Nave) Simone and Susan Scheeler, step-sisters; Denise Aleshire-Lopez and Jill Parks, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers: James and Dale Nave, and step-brother, Clint Aleshire.

A lifelong farmer, John dedicated his life to working the family farm. Farming wasn’t just what he did-it was who he was. When he wasn’t in the fields with Mark Cessna, there was a good chance you could find him roaming gun shows, flea markets, or garage sales with Mark Donnelly. For more than 30 years, John proudly served as a 4-H advisor, investing in countless young people and sharing the kind of knowledge that can't be found in a book. The Clark County Fair was like a family reunion, everyone knew John. When it came to problems and solutions, if John didn't know the answer, he knew exactly who to call. John had a knack for fixing just about anything. John was never without his vice grips, crescent wrench and screwdriver. To his family and friends, he wasn’t just the man who could fix broken machinery, he was the one who could fix a bad day. John was always ready with a helping hand or a story that would leave you smiling.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Garlough Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clark County 4-H in John’s honor.
