John Vernon Perkins, age 54 of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024. He was born April 6, 1970 in Springfield, Ohio, son of Vern and Loretta (Williams) Perkins. John is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Kelly (Worthen) Perkins, daughters, Whitney (Matt Rakestraw) Perkins and Lauren Perkins, step-children, Brayden and Kayla Tosi, grandchildren, Braden, Adrien, and Reina, father, Vern Perkins, sister, Lisa (Tony) Esposito, father-in-law, Tom Worthen, mother-in-law, Judy Worthen, sister-in-law, Tracey Castle, nieces and nephews, Ashley (Matt) Bussey, Thomas (Lottie) Piatt, Madison Piatt, Jonathan (Dana) Esposito, Jaycie (Dustin) Floyd, Anthony (Kaylee) Esposito, 12 great nieces and great nephews, lifelong friends, Joe Beers, Billy Fultz, and Kathy Frantz-Cogdill, and several aunts and uncles. John was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Jane Perkins.
John's love for sports was evident in his active lifestyle and the passionate way he supported his favorite teams. He shared countless afternoons cheering on the Cincinnati Reds and Washington Redskins. His competitive spirit extended beyond the screens, as he played poker, softball, set records wrestling at Springfield South, and even engaged in MMA fighting. Even the simple act of mowing grass became a pleasurable escape for him. John was a jokester who never knew a stranger. He was a loving and caring man who enjoyed any time spent with his family, especially when cheering on his grandson during baseball games. John will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 2:00-4:00PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield.
