Johnny H. Adrian, Jr., of South Charleston, Ohio, passed away on November 5, 2026, at home, surrounded by his cherished family. He was born on October 8, 1943, in Clark County, Ohio.
Johnny was a hard worker from a very young age and remained that way throughout his life. After graduation, he joined the Army National Guard and served for six years. During his military service, he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was recognized as a sharpshooter. He later built a long career with International Harvester, where he worked in many different roles over the years before retiring in 2002. Through his time there, he gained multitudes of friends, a reflection of the kind of man he was.
Johnny never knew a stranger and could talk to anyone. His warm, easy way with people made others feel welcome, and his greatest priority was always his family. He took deep pride in supporting his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren, and his happiest moments were spent attending family events through the years.
Johnny found joy in life’s simple and lasting pleasures. He loved mushroom hunting and fishing, and he enjoyed watching OSU football. Family get-togethers meant a great deal to him, especially cookouts, board games, pizza, and time spent together cheering on the Buckeyes. He also treasured long walks in the backyard and the simple outings he shared with his wife, whether going to dinner or taking in a movie. These everyday moments became the memories his family will hold close.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Adrian, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his sons, William Jay Adrian and Jeffrey C. Adrian, and his wife, Tracy. His love continues through his grandchildren, Paige Adrian, Kenzie Adrian, and Jacob Adrian, and through his great-grandchild, Brextin Wright. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Moon of Bellefontaine and Irene Penwell of East Monroe; his sisters-in-law, Janet Jones of Haughton, Louisiana, and the one he called his "Baby Sister" Helen (Rick) Thomas of Washington Courthouse. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John H. Adrian; his mother, Ethel Adrian; and his stepmother, Mellie Adrian. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Adams; his mother-in-law, Clara Adams Harris; his father-in-law, Jim Harris; his sisters, Marie Oakley of Lakeview, Betty Piat of Jamestown, Sandy Yelton of Bellefontaine, and Ann Atchison of Springfield; his brothers, Jim Adrian of Springfield and Roger Murnahan of Springfield; his sisters-in-law, Joanne Blair, Phyllis Campbell, and special sister-in-law, Florence Hidy, all of Washington Courthouse; and his special friends, George and Noli Swift of East Monroe.
