Joyce Marie Rice, born on March 26, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, surrounded by her family at her home. With a dedicated career in the antique business spanning forty years, Joyce was known for her keen eye for hidden treasures—an enthusiasm that extended to her love for thrifting and junking.
Joyce's vibrant personality shone brightly through her passion for hosting family gatherings and celebrating holidays. She found joy in reading and had a special fondness for feeding and watching birds, activities that brought her great delight in her daily life.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 42 years, Marvin "Sonny" Rice, along with her cherished children: Kimberly Winburn, Stephanie (Michael) Leigh, Cary (Bernice) Winburn, Shawne (Otto) Bush, Wendy Simms, and Todd (Michelle) Rice. Joyce also took immense pride in her grandchildren, Amber (Jacque) White, Brandon (Jackie) Winburn, Carlos (Christy) Borden, Jessica Board, Jamie Board, Joren Board, Jordan Leigh, Cary (Josie) Winburn Jr., Mercedes (Paul) Sustaita, Jasmine Winburn, Sylvia Arredondo, Saul Camacho, Caelyn Rice and Tehya Rice. In addition, she is survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
Joyce was preceded in death by her loving parents, Russell and Dorothy "Dot" Robinson, as well as her sibling, Francis Carolyn Smith. She is also mourned by her siblings: Sue Dorsey, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Ron) Miller, and Steven (Lori) Robinson.
Joyce held a special place in the hearts of her friends, among them Sharon & Bill Brown, Alyce & Larry North, Diana & Wayne McClaskey, Margo & Jim Gineman, and cousin Una Peterson. Additionally, her special aid, Anyla, provided her with support and care that was deeply appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joyce’s life at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center. Visitation will be held on July 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Joyce Marie Rice will be remembered for her love of family, her passion for antiques, and her unwavering spirit. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
