Judy D. Smith, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully in her home on August 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 1, 1950, in Jamestown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Whitt.
Judy dedicated her entire life to the service industry, working at various places where her warm smile and compassionate heart touched countless lives. Her unwavering commitment to serving others mirrored the dedication she showed as a mother, raising her two sons, Roger Sparrow and Michael (Tonya) Smith, as a single mom. She always strived to give them the best she could, instilling values of perseverance and love that continue to resonate within them.
Her family was her pride and joy, particularly her granddaughter, Kaley (Nathan) Hanft, and her grandson, Tyler Smith. Judy's love for her great-granddaughter, Mia Hanft, was immeasurable; Mia brought a light to her life that brightened every day. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ron Warren. The memories of family gatherings, celebrations, and the simple joys of everyday life will be treasured by those who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her siblings: Harley Whitt, Janice Mashefski, Larry Whitt, Ellen Warren, and Eddie Whitt.
A viewing will be held on September 2, 2025, at South Solon Cemetery, Ohio, from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM, followed by a graveside service beginning at 11:30 AM. Friends and family are invited to share in this final farewell, a moment to honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
