Karen L. Barnett

December 8, 1962 — June 13, 2025

Springfield

Karen L. Barnett, age 62, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on December 8, 1962, Karen was the beloved daughter of the late Robert D. and Helen H. Lumbatis. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Chad Barnett, and brother-in-law, Howard Doak.

Karen's greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted daughters: Jennifer Barnett, Christie (Greg) D’Aloiso, and Nikki (Bryant) Weber. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Tristan Thompson, Adrian Barnett, Lanna and Remi D’Aloiso, and Kenzie and Jonah Weber, who brought immense light to her life.

She is also survived by her loving siblings: Mickie (Jerry) Nuckles, Wayne (Debbie) Lumbatis, Kathie Doak, Mark (Cindy) Lumbatis, and Marilyn (John) Edwards, along with her cousin, Diann Jennings, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her warmth and humor.

Karen had an unforgettable sense of humor and was always ready with a laugh, a prank, or a playful jab. Whether she was cracking jokes at work, goofing off with siblings, or toilet-papering a house with her kids in tow, Karen lived to make people smile. Her fun-loving spirit was infectious and left an impression everywhere she went.

Later in life, she found her true calling as a veterinary technician. She adored animals, especially dogs, and found deep fulfillment in caring for them with love and tenderness.

Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren in ways that truly reflected her playful nature. She was happiest when they were together watching TV shows, playing video games, spending time at the park, or just playing outside. She created a world of fun, laughter, and comfort that her grandchildren will always treasure.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 17th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Spotted Cow Coffeehouse, located at 927 N. Main Street, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
