Kathleen Sue Parks Reno

October 12, 1970 — February 14, 2026

Springfield, Ohio

Kathleen Sue Reno, lovingly known as Kathy, went home to be with her Lord on February 14th, 2026. Kathy was born on October 12, 1970, in Springfield, Ohio. Kathy, a follower of Jesus, grew up attending Hillside Avenue Church of God and later attended Maiden Lane Church of God and Heritage Fellowship Church. She touched the lives of everyone who had the joy of knowing her, thanks to her radiant spirit and genuine love for her family and friends. Kathy's journey through life was characterized by her unwavering dedication to others, especially evident during her nearly 24-year marriage to her devoted husband, Douglas A. Reno. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, raising their two sons, Dale and Joshua, who were the center of her world.

Kathy's career was rooted in her passion for nurturing and guiding young minds. She served as a preschool teacher at Christian Edu-Care and a teacher's aide in both the Shawnee School District and Northwestern School District, where her warmth and kindness made her a beloved figure among the children she helped. Beyond her work in education, she also contributed her talents at Maccora’s Italian Restaurant and Lowe's, where her vibrant personality shone through, brightening the days of her colleagues and customers alike.

Kathy faced a courageous five-year battle with ALS, a journey she navigated with remarkable faith, strength and grace. Throughout her fight, she was blessed with an abundance of encouraging and helpful people—dedicated friends, a loving church family, and compassionate home health aides—who stood by her side, offering support and love. Kathy never knew a stranger; her open heart and welcoming nature meant that anyone who crossed her path could feel her warmth and kindness.

In her leisure time, Kathy found joy in watching the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State University football, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, savoring moments spent with her loved ones cheering for their favorite teams. Family was everything to Kathy, and her joy radiated, bringing light to every room she entered.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Douglas A. Reno; her cherished sons, Dale and Joshua Reno; her father, Glenn (Patricia) Parks; her brothers, Mike Parks and Christopher (Yadira) Parks; her sister and best friend, Amy Parks; her aunts, Patti (Mark) Weber and Penny Roller; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Parks; her brother-in-law, Rich Tipple; her uncle, Gale Roller and her aunt, Gerry Cochran.
