Kay Eileen Ruley, born on March 24, 1942, in Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Beavercreek, Ohio, surrounded by her beloved husband and daughter. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and kindness, undeniably leaving a mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In her professional journey, Kay was a dedicated realtor and broker at Coldwell Banker Realty for many years. Her commitment to her work demonstrated not only her professionalism but also her deep-seated passion for helping others find their dream homes. Her colleagues admired her, and her clients cherished her as she prioritized their needs with grace and generosity.

Kay's warm personality had a remarkable way of touching many lives, always leaving a positive impression. She was a loving member of the Northridge United Methodist Church, where her spirit of community and service flourished.

Kay's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, James "Jim" Ruley, and her devoted daughter, April Kay Lipps. Also mourning her loss are her sister Jocelyn Jones and brother Larry Brightbill, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great niece. Each of them carries cherished memories of Kay that will live on in their hearts.

She will also be remembered fondly by those who knew her for her proudest accomplishments, notably her significant involvement with the South Charleston Ohio Heritage Commission, where she organized the silent auction fundraiser for many years. Her legacy of service and commitment to community will continue to inspire those who followed in her footsteps.

For many years Kay was an avid Civil War reenactor and living historian. Her hobbies also included gardening, flea markets, NASCAR Cup racing, relaxing with a great mystery, and riverboat cruising.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Carl Brightbill and Laura Eileen (McLaughlin) Brightbill, and her brothers, Hal and Ted Brightbill. Their influence helped shaped Kay into the remarkable woman she became.

Friends and family are invited to gather in her memory at a Memorial Gathering on February 21, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield, OH, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Northridge United Methodist Church on February 22, 2026, at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Dr. Karen Crawford.
