Larry P. Taylor, age 78 of Springfield, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Memorial Hospital South Bend, Indiana. He was born on June 16, 1945 to the late Virgil and Edith (Castle) Taylor in Lorain, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Cheryl Taylor and his sister, Francis Lambert. He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly nine years, Debbie Taylor; children: Matthew P. Taylor, Bryan A. (Sandie) Barletto and Andrea R. Barletto and grandchildren: Mollie (Cameron) Sherman, Abbie Taylor, Zoie Taylor and Chloe Crompton. Larry was patiently awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter this summer, baby Willow. He is also survived by his sister, Sara (Dick) Keeran; brother, Nelson (Jan) Reams; brother-in-law, Bill Lambert as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Larry leaves the legacy of his love for his family, always enjoying the time he was able to spend with them. He served our country in the United States Army receiving many awards, including the Purple Heart for his bravery after serving in Vietnam. He was so proud to have climbed Mt. Rainier twice in his lifetime and loved anything to do with the outdoors. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed woodworking projects and to his family's amusement; you could count on the project being 98% completed. Larry enjoyed attending Crossway Community Church where he and his wife, Debbie were members. He will be sadly missed by those who knew him. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center; a second visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Maiden Lane Church of God from 12:00 until his funeral begins at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Chris Raulston officiating. Larry will be laid to rest in Ferncliff Cemetery with military honors being rendered at his grave. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Veteran's Suicide Prevention in Larry's honor.
