Lily Mae Heironimus

Lily Mae Heironimus, born Lily Mae Ward, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio. She was born on February 2, 1942, in Cherokee, Kentucky.

Lily will be remembered as a woman of faith, devotion, and warmth whose life was deeply rooted in family and community. She was a member of Central Christian Church, where she served as a past deaconess and sang in the church choir. Her faith found expression not only in worship, but also in the steady and loving way she lived each day.

She also found joy in caring for others through her work and talents. Lily loved baking cakes and was a baker for various businesses throughout the years. That gift for baking reflected the kind of person she was—someone who brought comfort, sweetness, and care to those around her.

At the heart of Lily’s life was her family. She shared nearly 69 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Dale Heironimus, a remarkable bond built over decades of love and commitment. She is also survived by her son, Robert "Bob" (Pam) Heironimus and her daughter, Angela Wegrzyn; She leaves behind her brother, Ronaldo “Ronnie” (Debbie) Ward, and her sister, Velma (Scott) Cyrus.

Lily’s love continues through the generations in her granddaughters, Leah (Jeff) McCloskey, Britny (Zach) Bushu, and Chelsey (Allan) Auter, and in her great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Griffin, Averie, Penelope, Kasen, Logan, Adeline, and Brynlee. She is also lovingly remembered by her longtime friends, George and Ann Wilcox, whose friendship was a meaningful part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Wilma (Wellman) Ward; siblings: Charles, Paul, Betty, Della, Anna, Fred, James, Donald, Jackie and Linda. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center, 2425 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. She will be laid to rest following the service at Ferncliff Cemetery. 

Lily will be remembered with love for her faithful spirit, her caring heart, and the many ways she made life brighter for those around her. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
