Lou Cinda Hastings

Mar 21, 1932 — Oct 12, 2026

Springfield, Ohio

Lou Cinda Hastings, "Cindy" of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, at the age of 94. She was born on March 21, 1932, in Happy, Kentucky, and lived a long life marked by faith, devotion to family, and a generous spirit of service to others.

Cindy was a woman who loved the Lord and was loved by all who knew her. Her life reflected that faith in meaningful and practical ways, through her volunteering commitments and her desire to give back to her community. She volunteered at Second Shelf in Dayton, where the proceeds benefit the mentally handicapped, and she found special purpose in serving others. Among the works closest to her heart was running the food pantry at Fellowship Christian Church, a role that spoke to her compassion and her steady commitment to helping those in need.

She also built a life of hard work and dedication. Cindy worked at Country Kitchen and later served as an accounting clerk for Phillips Industries for thirty years before her retirement. Outside of work, she found joy in the work of her hands. She enjoyed handmade crafts, crocheting, knitting, and making hand towels, creating simple and lasting expressions of care that reflected her thoughtful nature.

Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Joseph “Tex” Hastings. She was also preceded in death by her father, Jesse Combs; her mother, Martha Dobson Combs; her son, Gene Maggard, and daughter-in-law, Mable Maggard; her brothers, Lawrence Combs, Aster Combs, and Arnold Combs; and her sisters-in-law, Janette Combs and Norma Combs.

She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love: her son, Dan Hastings; her grandson, Jason (Brandi Folse) Maggard, granddaughters, Veronica and Josephine Maggard; Ellen Moncure, mother of Veronica and Josephine; her nieces, Debbie Combs Gibson, Vicki Combs (Paul) Stacey, and Donna Sue Combs (Keith) Gaines; her dear friend, Martha Fisher; and her beloved caregiver, Robyn McGee. May they find comfort in the many memories they shared with her, in the example of kindness and faith she gave so freely, and in the enduring love she leaves behind.
