Margaret Ann Stewart-Diehl

December 5, 1929 — March 16, 2026

Yellow Springs, Ohio

Margaret Ann Stewart Diehl, age 96, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, passed away, Monday, March 16, 2026. She was born December 5, 1929, in Xenia, Ohio, and was the daughter of Russell Black Stewart and Margaret (Sawyer) Stewart.

A native of Yellow Springs, Ann attended the Antioch School, finishing eighth grade in a class of two, the other student being Caroline Wingfield Roth who remained her lifelong best friend. At Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, Ann completed high school and earned an Associates of Arts degree.

She married Eugene Philip Diehl, also a native of Yellow Springs, and worked with him and their good friend, Alma Dannaker at the Diehl Insurance Agency. Alma made it possible for Ann and Gene to spend winter months in Naples, Florida.

During their 62 years of marriage, Ann and Gene enjoyed their beach life with friends and shared a love for horses that took them around the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana show circuit, as Ann, an accomplished equestrienne, competed successfully on the four Saddlebreds that she owned.

Ann will be remembered as a very bright, beautiful, well-read, meticulous in her appearance and as a fun and unusual grandmother. She always called the shots, drove cool cars and lived the life that she wanted.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Scheper (Mike) of Boca Raton, Florida and their children, Jack (Brooke) of Delray Beach, Florida, and Beau (Jamie) of Lake Worth Beach, Florida; sons, Drew of Cincinnati, Ohio and his former wife, Susan and their children, Emily Geis (Dr. Ben) of Louisville, Kentucky and Phillip (Ava) Diehl of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ann also leaves behind a brother, Perry of Yellow Springs, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene in 2014 and a grandson, Scott Scheper in 1980.

A special thank you goes to the kind ad caring staff at Shawnee Estates.

At her request there will be no services.
