Marion R. Griffeth

Marion R. Griffeth, age 91, of Cedarville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 16, 1928, in Maryland, New York, the daughter of the late Roland and Bessie (Ide) Updyke. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Jack R. Payne and Walter L. Griffeth; siblings, Barbara Williams, Charles Updyke and Kenneth Updyke; and one grandchild. She is survived by her beloved children, Laura (Anthony) Ereddia, Paulette (Timothy) Hegg, Jacqueline (Daniel) Pyles, Joel (Tommie) Payne and Ellen (John) Battaglia; sister, Beverly Wilson; 27 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Marion worked at Cedarville University for 8 years, volunteered at Greene Memorial Hospital and served in her local church for many years. She had a servants heart, not only taking care of her own family, but also pouring her heart into fostering numerous children. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11a.m. at North Cemetery, Cedarville. Her family will receive friends from 10a.m. until the start of the service.
