Michael Joseph Risley, known affectionately as Mike, departed this life on November 2, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio, succumbing to complications of severe sepsis. Born on July 16, 1962, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Mike lived a life rich with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
Mike was currently employed at Navistar, where he demonstrated his dedication and commitment to his work. He had a profound love for the Ohio State University Buckeyes and was a devoted supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles, often reveling in the thrill of competition and gathering to cheer on his favorite teams.
In his leisure, Mike found joy in various hobbies that connected him to the heart of family and friendship. He relished the roar of stock car racing, the serenity of fishing, and the warmth of camping at Big Bear Campgrounds at Indian Lake. He loved nothing more than gathering around the campfire, surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories and laughter. His passion for euchre added a competitive edge to gatherings, while golf cart parades provided a unique opportunity for fun and fellowship. Aside from these activities, Mike cherished listening to live bands and swimming, embracing each moment that life had to offer.
Mike is survived by his beloved family: his mother, Mary Risley; his father, Martin (Bev) Risley; his sister, Karen (John) Henz; his brothers, Steve (Paige) Risley and Joe Risley; and his estranged son, Christopher. He also leaves behind a loving extended family, including nephews Zachary (Amy) Henz, Alex Henz, Mac (Rachel) Risley, Mitch Risley, and Dominick Risley, as well as his niece, Jessica Henz. Among his dearest friends are Carroll and Nicole Nease, who called him "Mikey" and stood by him through thick and thin.
He now joins his beloved grandparents, Joseph & Susan Angerosa and Mark & Mary Risley, his brother Tony, and his cherished dog Dixie, who was anxiously awaiting him at the Rainbow Bridge.
A memorial gathering for Mike will be held on November 6, 2025, at the Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield, OH. The gathering will begin at 4:00 PM, culminating in a celebration of life starting at 6:00 PM. These events will allow all whose lives he touched to come together in remembrance, honoring the vibrant spirit of a man who shared his generosity and zest for life with everyone around him.
As we gather to celebrate Mike's remarkable life, let us carry forward his legacy of kindness, love, and laughter in our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to Tunnels to Towers in Mike's honor.
