Mildred Eloise Truss

Mildred Eloise Truss, 98, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Springfield, OH gained her wings May 4, 2025. She was born March 31, 1927, in Sparta, Georgia a daughter of Sidney V. and Lourlean (Milsap) Hill.

Mildred moved from Georgia to Springfield in 1940 where she later met and married Curtis L. Truss, Sr. on April 12, 1944. To this union they were blessed with four beautiful children, William Truss, Sr., Audrey (Jean) Phillips, Curtis, Jr. (Wanda) Truss and Cynthia (Charles) Yancey. She also leaves to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren, William (Junior) Truss Jr., Derrick (Gina) Truss, Hamidi (HT) Truss, Ciceley (Cissy) Phillips, Anissa (Nikki) Phillips, Chris (Chrissy) Phillips, RaShawn Truss, Brandon Truss, Charles Yancey Jr. and Chaméka (meme) Yancey; 19 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and honorary grandchildren, Aaron Dudley, Trina Thompson-Dixon, Richard Quick Jr. (Bozit), Maurice Stinnett .

Mrs. Truss was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and then became a member of Restored Life Ministries in 2007. She was also a PTA Member at Fulton Elementary School.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and babysitter whom enjoyed shopping, sweets, taking care of other children, watching the soap operas and loved making up names for the grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis L. Truss, Sr.; parents, Sideny V. and Lourlean Hill; brother, Sidney V. Hill, Jr.; son-in-love, Otis M. Phillips and great-great granddaughter, Amirah Truss.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM Friday, May 16, 2025, at Restored Life Ministries, 1117 Innisfallen Ave., Springfield, OH 45506 with funeral services to follow. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contribution may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to a youth organization of your choice.
