Norma Lou Hayes, age 93, of Springfield, Ohio passed away February 13, 2026. She was born on May 18, 1932, in South Solon, Ohio to the late Truman and Marie (DeWitt) Hayes.
Norma, affectionately known as “Aunt Purple” is survived by a sister-in -law, Nancy Hayes; nieces and nephews, Vickie Huffer, Michael (Jane) Palmer, Jeff Palmer, Diana (Rodney) Cox and Eric Hayes; great nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Casey, Cory, Nicole, Daniel, Wesley and Ethan and numerous great-great and great -great- great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Raymond, Mary, Richard and Eugene; nephew, Danny Huffer and a great-great-great niece Goldie.
Norma was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, worked at Thomas Tape Stationary Supply Company in Springfield, Ohio after high school and later spent many years babysitting her nephew, Eric Hayes. Having her nieces and nephews visit throughout the summer months. She also babysat for her great nephews while they were in school. She was a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Springfield for many years serving in the church nursery for over 67 years. She always enjoyed children. Along with her brothers, they enjoyed taking them camping and on other trips. Family was very important to her. She always had a camera in hand, and you were bound to get in at least one of her pictures.
Her favorite color was purple, and it was evident in all of her clothes and jewelry that she would wear. She would also find many home accessories displaying the color purple. She even owned a purple car at one point. Norma enjoyed life and always had a smile on her face.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Berea Bible Church, 3850 Derr Road, Springfield, OH.
