Ortha Mae Palmer, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio, at the age of 59. Born on January 5, 1967, in Ohio, she a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Ortha dedicated herself to serving others during her time at the Family Needs Pantry, where she worked for about four years. Her kindness and willingness to help were evident in all aspects of her life. She loved attending concerts in the park and was known for her ability to connect with people, easily making friends wherever she went. Ortha had a big heart and embraced all children as her own, ensuring that no one felt unloved. Her love for walking was unmatched; she often preferred to stroll rather than accept a ride.
She is survived by her daughters, Desiree Hitch (William Foulke) and Anna (James) Lannom; her sons, Ernest James Hitch and James Cleveland; her grandchildren, Shailie Marie Hitch, Cheyenne Renee Boyet, Jasber Benjamin Dean Foulke, Gabriel Gage Palmer, and Sophie; as well as several other adopted children and grandchildren who cherished her deeply.
Ortha is preceded in death by her parents, Thurman E. and Elsie Marie (Hitch) Blankenship.
A Funeral Service will be held on February 18, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center. with visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Ortha Mae Palmer will be missed dearly, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew her.
