Pamela "Diane" Smith

Apr 14, 1952 — Jul 30, 2026

Springfield

Pamela “Diane” Smith departed this life on July 30, 2026, in Springfield, Ohio, at the age of 74. Born on April 14, 1952, in Savannah, Georgia, the daughter of the late Cecil and Mary Todd.

Diane embodied the truest sense of connection; she was a social butterfly, blessed with the gift of empathy. Your joys were her joys, and your sorrows became her own. She could always be counted on to be the last to leave church or any gathering, not because she lingered for her own sake, but because she wanted to know how each person was truly doing. Her sweetness and caring heart would do anything for anyone and left an indelible mark on so many loved ones, friends, co-workers, church family and strangers alike.

Wherever her beloved late husband, LeRoy was called, she joyfully walked beside him, ever ready to help others. She took genuine joy in giving all she could to those in need—sometimes going to extraordinary lengths—never seeking praise or recognition and always happiest behind the scenes. Diane wore her heart on her sleeve and ensured her actions spoke louder than words. But perhaps Diane’s proudest accomplishment was the family she cherished so dearly. Of all the titles she received in life, nothing compared to the simple name “Nena” that her grandchildren all lovingly call her. Each family gathering, every holiday and celebration, was enriched by Diane’s steadfast love.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Lee (Marcy) Smith and Stephen (Jenni) Smith; her grandchildren whom she cherished dearly—Anya, Brody, Zane (Angelina), Logan, Greyson, and Marlee—and her great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Liam, and Andre, each touched by the unwavering affection Nena bestowed upon them.

Diane also leaves behind her loving sisters, Gail McLean and Linda Crews; her sister-in-law Debbie (Ralph) Focht; and her favorite uncle, Donald Anderson.

She now joins in peaceful rest her beloved husband, LeRoy Smith, as well as her dear parents, Cecil and Mary Todd and her brothers-in-law Ron Crews and H.G. McLean.
