Pauletta Gay Evans, 83 of Jamestown, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 26th surrounded by her family in her home. She was born October 16, 1939 to Owen and Lessie (Hatfield) Moses. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her great grandson, Mason Cordell and great granddaughter, Shay Redding. Pauletta is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dewitt Evans, four daughters Kim Millhoan, Karla Redding, Kerri Marshall, and Heidi (Kevin) Basinger, nine grandchildren Seth (Michelle) Millhoan, Sarah (Rich) Nethers, Amanda (Matt) Cordell, Cody Redding, Jeremy Inlow, Leslie Lopez Espanoza, Paula Coe, Jordan (Kristen) Basinger, Jenna (Hunter) Heathcook and nineteen great grandchildren.
Pauletta was a member of the Grape Grove Church of Christ for over 50 years where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She always had a love for music and enjoyed listening to her favorite singer, Patsy Cline. Pauletta served as a 4-H advisor for many years and shared her love for animals along with Dewitt as they raised purebred Hampshire and Dorset sheep as well as goats, peacocks, chickens, and llamas. She also enjoyed traveling with Dewitt attending purebred sheep sales where he was the auctioneer and she would help clerk the sales. Attending and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events was another favorite pastime. Pauletta worked in a variety of places over her lifetime including Sears, where she met Dewitt, Greeneview Local Schools as a bus driver, Sohigro, Jordan’s Supervalu, The James Cancer Hospital, and Loving Care Home Health and Hospice.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Davita of Xenia, Silvercreek Township EMS, and Monty and Diana Sprinkle for the care and compassion they have shown her over the last few years.
