Raymond A. French, age 79 of Springfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 10, 2025. He was born December 7, 1945 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Hargis) French. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Suetta (Stanczak) French, children, Shelley (Randy) Stewart and Brent French, grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Myers, Raymond "Cody" Myers, Ryan French, great-grandchildren, Hunter, Maia, Sophie, Aubri, Sebastian, Schuyler, Nylie, brother, William French, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruthann Whitson, Dale French, and Shane French.
Ray selflessly served our nation in the United States Army for over 3 years in Vietnam. Following his time in the service, Ray worked for Navistar/International Harvester for 30 years until his eventual retirement. In his free time, Ray could be found on the golf course, especially Locust Hills, or on the water with a rod and reel in hand. Ray loved any and all sports. He was a jack of all trades his whole life when it came to athletics, dabbling in horseshoes, archery, baseball, and fishing, most notably when he won Mr. Bass in the 80's at a fishing tournament. Ray had a deep appreciation for caring for his yard, always making sure his lawn was well kept. Ray was also a dutiful member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson Lytle Lewis Life Celebration Center, Springfield. A celebration of life will be held on October 25, 2025 from 11:00-1:30PM at the Locust Hills Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, mailed to 5308 North River Road, Springfield, OH 45502 in care of John Kitchen.
