Robert Lawrence Bechtel, age 92, passed away on October 25, 2025, in Centerville, Ohio. Born on March 9, 1933, in Springfield, Ohio, Robert dedicated more than 30 years of his professional life to Navistar, where he was a valued employee and a respected colleague. A distinguished member of the United States Army, Robert served honorably during the Korean War. Outside of his career and military service, Robert was a jack of all trades, known for his love of landscaping and gardening. He took great joy in creating beautiful gardens filled with vibrant flowers, which reflected his nurturing spirit and appreciation for nature. His enthusiasm extended to leisure activities as well, where he enjoyed square dancing alongside his wife, Carole Jean (Hoy) Bechtel, with whom he shared nearly 65 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Carolene Bechtel; son, Randy (Susan) Bechtel; grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Bechtel and Cody (Shelly) Bechtel; along with seven cherished great-grandchildren. His legacy also continues through his sister, Betty Ann Fain. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole Jean Bechtel; his parents, Paul and Helen (Carlos) Bechtel; and siblings Paul, Bill, Joe, Joann, Helen, and Rita. Viewing will be held on October 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City, Ohio, at 3:30 PM.
