Robert James Quaintance, fondly known as "Bob," passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Kettering Health Dayton. He was born on January 10, 1943, in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and lived a life rich with dedication, passion, and love for his family and community.
Bob's professional journey included serving as the manager of the research orchard in Canal Winchester for the Ohio State University, a role that allowed him to contribute significantly to horticultural education and advancement. He also managed the family farm from 1976 to 1993, where he instilled his passion for vegetable gardening and cultivated a love for the land in those around him. After his tenure at the family farm, Bob retired from Berry Hill Nursery in Springfield, Ohio, leaving a legacy of knowledge and care for plants that many will remember.
An alumnus of The Ohio State University, Bob earned his Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, further enhancing his expertise and deepening his commitment to horticulture. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves, demonstrating his dedication not only to his craft but to his country as well.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob found joy in various hobbies. A recent fan of YouTube, he delighted in watching anything related to agriculture, as well as enjoying old westerns that transported him to another time.
Bob leaves behind his beloved family, which includes his daughters Jennifer (Ron) Fleming, Becky (Jay) Reed, and Elizabeth (Chris) Erter. He is also survived by his siblings: Dave, Sue, Tom (Nadine), and Shirley. His spirit will be cherished by his sisters-in-law, Gloria Quaintance and Kathy Weber, and his grandchildren: Casey (Zach), Laramie (Reed), Carlin (Grace), Ian (Christina), Codee, and Stephen. Additionally, he shared a special bond with his dear friend, Birdie, and his beloved dog, Jake.
He was preceded in death by Janet Quaintance Shuman, the mother of his children; Dee Haulman, his second wife; Ninoshka Quaintance, his third wife; as well as siblings Fred, Sharon, Mary, and Carolyn.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center in Springfield, Ohio, on August 16, 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. This will be followed by a celebration of life beginning at 3:00 PM.
Bob's legacy will endure through the lives he touched, the gardens he tended, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his influence and memory will live on in all who knew him.
