In Loving Memory of Roland Hale Northington

Roland Hale Northington, 65, was born on June 28, 1960, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was raised in Xenia, Ohio. He passed away peacefully at his home on June 20, 2026.
Roland graduated from Greene County Career Center, where he developed the skills that would lead to a career he truly loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before becoming a heavy equipment operator. He often joked that he "never considered work to be work—he got to play in the dirt," a saying that perfectly reflected his love for his work and his joyful outlook on life.
A devoted man of God, Roland lived his faith through kindness, generosity, and service to others. He found great joy in creating his lawn care business, Roland Mows, where he took pride not only in making lawns beautiful but also in building lasting friendships with his customers. His work ethic
Roland had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and before long, they felt like an old friend. He was always willing to offer advice, lend a helping hand, or simply listen. His warm smile, sense of humor, compassionate heart, and genuine concern for others touched countless lives.
Roland was preceded in death by his father, Julian Northington.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Doris (Sears) Northington; his beloved children, Nicole Clegg-Lewis (Rodney Lewis), Nicholas Northington, Jeremy Northington, and Cheyenne Northington (Gregory Wells SR); his treasured grandchildren, Serenity Lewis, Nylah Northington, Samiya Northington, Aniyah Battle, Ayden Northington, Aryian Northington, Aydrian Northington, and Avery Wells; and his siblings, Keith Northington, James Northington, Patrice Northington, Nita London (Johnny London Jr), Jay Northington, and Janel Northington. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Roland will be remembered for his unwavering faith, generous spirit, hardworking nature, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. His life was a testament to the importance of serving others, finding joy in honest work, and treating every person with kindness and respect. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Henry Milton, Bobby Eaton, Emmet Wallace Jr., and Stanley Battle for your unwavering friendship, love, and support. Thank you for always being there for Roland and for standing by his side throughout life's journey. Your kindness and devotion will never be forgotten.
Although Roland's presence will be deeply missed, his family and friends find comfort in knowing that he is at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully served. May the blessing of Numbers 6:24–26 continue to comfort all who knew and loved him, and may his memory forever remain a source of strength, love, and inspiration.
A final celebration of Roland's life will be held on Thursday July 9,2026 with visitation from 10a-11a with services to follow at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Funeral Home, 322 West Xenia Avenue, Yellow Springs, Ohio, 937-399-2811. There will be a repass to celebrate Rolands’s homegoing at The Upper Echelon at 131 N Allison Ave, Xenia Ohio 45385.
