Springfield

Thomas “Tom” Mease, age 66, of Springfield Oh, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, after a very brief illness. Born on February 25, 1960, in Galion, Ohio, Tom was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished brother whose kindness and humor touched everyone who knew him.

Tom retired from Economy Linen in 2024, but his energetic spirit and love for staying busy led him to take a part-time job as a parts delivery driver for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. A proud member of Teamsters Local 957 and Springfield Browns Backers. A die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, Tom also cheered passionately for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He found joy in the outdoors, especially boating, motorcycling, fishing, and camping, where he could relax and connect with nature and family. Tom also found great happiness playing "Santa" at the Mease-Hoover Christmas parties.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Blayney) Mease; their son, Jason Mease of New Carlisle, Ohio; and their daughter, Jennifer Mease of Medway, Ohio. He will be deeply missed by his brothers Dennis Downing of Galion, Norm (Collette) Mease of Galion, Richard (Kim) Mease of Brownsville, and John (Carolynn) Mease of Australia; sisters-in-law Melissa (Blayney) James of Grove City, Ohio, Donna Mease of Lebanon PA; and brother-in-law Mark Blayney of Sanford, North Carolina. Very special Aunt Dolores (Doe) Wolfe. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Mease) Williams; father, Donald Mease; sister, Linda Brown; niece, Nicole Brown; and cousin, Shawn Freeman.

Tom’s life was defined by his love for family, his loyalty to friends, and his ability to bring laughter into any room. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Wednesday August 26th from 5PM to 7PM at Jackson-Lytle and Lewis Funeral Home, 2425 N. Limestone St. Springfield Oh 45503. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tom's name to the American Cancer Society.
