Viola "Mae" Reed

Viola Mae (Mongold) Reed, 97, was born in Washington Court House, Ohio on December 30, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Carrie Mongold. She is survived by her three children, Connie Blair, Joe and Melanie Reed and Sharon Walters; one sister, Mary E. Boggs; grandchildren, William (Becky) Blair, Jo Ellen (Eric) VanHorn, Nancy Blair, Anthony (Emily) Walters, Brandi Walters, Christopher (Angela) Walters, Jason Reed and Justin Reed; several great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Reed; daughter, Wanda Blair; two sons-in-law, Ellis and Frank; seven siblings; two grandchildren, Chip Blair and Mandy Blair; and two great-granddaughters, Samantha Jo Reed and Cady Reed. Mae was employed by Bakers Cafeteria and retired from Wittenberg University after 30 years of service. Her family would like to thank Ohio’s Hospice for their kind compassionate care and a special thank you to the Springfield Cancer Center, where she was known as “granny” for their compassionate care. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 12-1pm at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center with service beginning at 1pm.
